Culver's Antiques was started in Laurel, DE by Minnie Culver in 1947. As time passed, her reputation for knowledge, quality and integrity became well known among those interested in Victorian era lamps and furniture. Her personal collection of rare, high quality Victorian lamps is among the nation's best.
Eventually, the business passed to her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne & Toni Culver, who continued in the same traditions. As a result of these traditions and the large inventory of quality items not found elsewhere, their reach expanded as customers traveled and contacted them from various states to view and purchase antiques.
Two of their loyal customers were Ernest and Marilyn Gerardi, who began collecting Victorian era furniture and lamps and quickly became good friends as did their children. In early 2008, as the Culvers began to think about retirement, Ernie Gerardi asked if any of his family might be interested in purchasing the business. After some consideration and planning, Ernie and his son-in-law, Tom Andrews and his grandson, Michael Andrews decided to purchase the business and relocate it from Laurel, DE to a c.1900, two story building previously occupied as a movie theater and, more recently, as Berlin Hardware, located at 106 N. Main St in historic Berlin, MD.
We plan to carry on these founding values and traditions in our larger and totally renovated location with an expanded inventory of high quality Victorian era lamps, Walnut furniture and accessories, along with specialized services.
